FEATURES

  • Welds base metals of similar composition
  • Good corrosion and wear resistance
  • Good resistance to oxidising acids and cold reducing acids
  • Melting point – 1440°C
  • Typical applications include all industries where similar materials (incl. higher carbon types) as well as ferritic 13% Cr Steels are used

APPLICATIONS

Welding base metals of similar composition such as 201,202, 301, 302, 304, 305 and 308

Typical applications include all industries where similar materials (incl. higher carbon types) as well as ferritic 13% Cr Steels are used. SIFSTEEL 308LSi is also suitable for Nb (Cb) or Ti stabilised grades 347 and 321. Weld metal has an excellent resistance to general and intergranular corrosion (up to 350ΕC), good resistance to oxidising acids and cold reducing acids. Base materials to be welded: ASTM/AISI Grade 302, 304, 304L, 304LN, 321,347. WNr 1.4306, 1.4301, 1.4541, 1.4550, 1.4311, 1.4300. CrNi 18 10 and similar stainless steel grades.

CAUTION

All parameters are suggested as basic guidelines and will vary depending on joint design, number of passes and other factors.

308L STAINLESS STEEL FILLER WIRE

308L is an austenitic stainless steel used to weld base metal of similar composition types such as AISI 201 (17-4 Mn), 202 (18-5 Mn), 205, 301 (17-7), 302 (18-8), 304 (19-9), 305 (18-10), 308 (20-10) and the low carbon grades. The low carbon reduces carbide precipitation. (Tri-mix gas = 90% He + 7.5% Ar + 2.5% CO2)

308L is used for the welding of 304 and 304L grade stainless steel. The weld metal has good corrosion resistance properties, including intergranular attack from a range of liquid media at service temperatures <300°C.

It is used for a wide range of applications including pipework and plate fabrication, vessel production etc. Batch with controlled low ferrite number is available for cryogenic applications. Low carbon reduces the propensity to intergranular carbide precipitation, which increases the resistance to intergranular corrosion without the use of stabilizers. TIG rod for welding type AISI 304 and 308 austenitic stainless steels. Excellent mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.

FEATURES/BENEFITS

  • Low carbon to prevent cracking
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Welds all low-grade stainless alloys up to a 308L

APPLICATIONS

  • Pulp and paper mills
  • Stainless pipe and tubing
  • Bakery and kitchen equipment
  • Housings and impellers
  • Hospital equipment

METHOD OF APPLICATION

  • TIG Wire: TIG welding machine
  • MIG Wire: MIG welding machine

IDENTIFICATION

  • TIG Wire: embossed or tagged
  • MIG Wire: labeled wire spool

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Remove all contaminants such as grease and oils from base metal before welding. For MIG, set machine on DC reverse polarity. For TIG, set machine on DC straight polarity. Hold a short arc and use stringer beads while welding.

308si/308lsi STAINLESS STEEL FILLER WIRE

Executive 308Si/308LSi is a stainless-steel welding wire for TIG and MIG. This wire is used to weld equipment made with 304 and 308 stainless grades. Welding speed is higher than 308 or 308L due to improved wettability of weld metal.

The addition of silicon improves the usability of this alloy in the gas metal arc process producing a more fluid weld and cleaner bead then standard ER308L.

If the dilution by the base metal produces a low ferrite or fully austenitic weld, the crack sensitivity of the weld is somewhat higher than that of a lower silicon content weld metal.

Austenitic stainless steel welding wire for GMA (MIG/MAG) welding of unstabilized or stabilized corrosion resisting Cr-Ni steels tanks, pipes and equipments used in food beverage and pharmaceutical industry. Resistant to intergranular corrosion up to 350°C. Non-scaling up to 800°C, in air or oxidizing combustion gasas.

SUPERMIG 308LSi is an extra low carbon 20 Cr/ 9 Ni stainless steel filler wire suitable for MIG welding of austenitic stainless steels such as 18 Cr /8 Ni type, AISI 301, 302, 304, 304L, 308 and 308L type of steels. Excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties. SUPER MIG 308LSi is used for welding of 304 and 304L grade stainless steel. The weld metal provides good corrosion resistance to intergranular attack from a range of liquid media. It is used for a wide range of applications including pipe work and plate fabrication, vessel production etc.

APPLICATIONS & FEATURES

Typically used for 304/304L & 308/308L stainless steel grades this alloy is used in a variety of industries including chemical & food

Processing. Executive stainless-steel filler metal is characterized by its clean and consistent finishing which aids in welding.

308LSI is suitable for joining stainless steels of the 304 type and 308 types. Welding speed is higher that 308 or 308L due to improved weldability of the weld metal.
