E385-16 Stainless Steel Electrode

Rutile type fully-austenitic stainless-steel electrode for welding of unsterilized or stabilized corrosion resisting Cr-Ni-Mo alloyed stainless steels like 904L/1.4539.

Especially used in flue gas desulphurization plants, fertilizer plants, sea water transfer fittings, in petrochemical, paper and pulp industries, etc. Due to high Ni, Mo and low C content, weld metal has high resistant to intergranular, pitting, crevice and stress corrosion types in chloride containing solutions, phosphorus, Sulphur, formic acids and sea water. Possible to use equally well both AC and DC. Easy arc striking and re-striking.

Fine metal droplet transfer, good fusion of joints faces, finely rippled flat and smooth bead surface, especially in fillet welds. Easy slag removal of slag.

EDEN E385-16 is a high alloy austenitic stainless-steel electrode with extra low carbon content intended for use in severe corrosive conditions. Residual elements C, Si, P, S and N are kept at much lower levels in order to keep the weld metal from hot cracking and fissuring. USA 904L is designed for joining 20% Cr-25% Ni-4.5% Mo1.5% Cu stainless steels used to manufacture and repair processing equipment, tanks, vessels, and process piping handling acetic acids, sulfuric-acid solutions and many chloride containing media.

Other uses Include cooling units for sea water and river water purification plants and for cladding lower alloy steels when used in many corrosive media environments. USA 904L is also used for joining AISI type 317 where improved corrosive resistance in specific media is required.

APPLICATIONS:

It is used to welding of high Ni and Mo stainless steels which show excellent resistance properties to acids and pitting corrosion such as URANA B-6 and B6M, NAR-20-25LMCu, UHB 904L, Sandvik 2RK65, Cronifer 1925LC, Avesta 254SLX as specified in ASTM B625 UNS N08904.

DESCRIPTION:

EDEN 385 is for welding of materials of similar chemical composition. It is used in fabrication of equipment and structures for handling sulfuric and phosphoric acid.

NOTES ON USAGE:

Choose the welding current as low as possible, keep the arc length as short as possible.
