E2209-15 Stainless Steel Electrode

EDEN E2209-15 is an alkali-based ultra-low carbon duplex stainless steel electrode with 40% -50% ferrite in the deposited metal. It has excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. In particular, it has reliable resistance to chloride Corrosion performance and high pitting corrosion resistance. DC reverse connection, all-position welding.

2209 is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum-nitrogen covered electrode with basic coating for welding of 22-23%Cr duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steels (e.g. Sandvik SAF 2205). The basic type of electrode combines good welding properties in all positions and high impact strength at low temperatures. The weld metal is characterized by high strength and very good pitting corrosion resistance as well as very good resistance to stress corrosion cracking in chloride containing media.

2209 is used for welding of duplex and lean duplex stainless steels in service temperatures up to 280°C (536°F), where good impact strength at temperatures below -40°C is required.

Typical base materials to be welded are ISO: 1.4462, 1.4362, 1.4162, 1.4662, 1.4660 and 1.4417.

Use:

For welding ultra-low carbon 022Cr22Ni5Mo3N, SAF2205 duplex stainless steel.

Precautions:

  1. Before welding electrodes to be about 250 ℃ baking 1h.
  2. Operating current should not be too large.

E2209-16 Stainless Steel Electrode

Electrode for welding duplex (ferritic-austenitic) stainless Cr-Ni-Mo steels. Especially used in welding of acid tanks and pipes, in chemical, petrochemical, paper, shipbuilding and desalination industries. Suitable also for welding duplex stainless steels to carbon steels.

The delta-ferrite content of the as-deposited weld metal amounts to approx. 25 to 35 %. The high-strength and ductile weld metal exhibits good resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-bearing media.

For operating temperatures of up to 250°C. Possible to use equally well both with AC and DC. Fine metal droplet transfer, good fusion of joint faces, finely rippled bead surface, easy arc striking, restriking and slag removal.

EDEN  E2209-16 duplex stainless-steel electrodes are used to weld 22% chromium duplex stainless-steel such as 2205, 2209, 2304 and other proprietary duplex stainless steels.

It has a smooth-running arc that deposits very high tensile strength, with resistance to stress, corrosion, cracking and pitting. These all-position rods have easy strike and re-strike with spatter-free arc, self-releasing slag leaving a smooth bead appearance.2209 may also be a good choice when welding Duplex stainless such as 2553 to carbon steels or other grades of stainless.

APPLICATIONS:

EDEN 2209 is used for welding duplex stainless steels for high tensile strength and improved resistance to stress corrosion cracking and pitting.

DESCRIPTIONS:

For welding of duplex steels

NOTES ON USAGE:

  • Keep the arc length as short as possible.
  • Choose the welding current within the range stated in the table below.
  • Do not use excessive current.
